Hello to All,
Well, things are finally winding down. A few remaining supers to be extracted, final feedings, medications to be removed and mouse guards to be placed. Maybe some repair work to be addressed and then to settle in to read over the winter. And one last club meeting to look forward to before the end of the year.
As usual, we will be meeting on the third Thursday of the month, November 19 at the Good Zoo, starting at 7:00 pm. Not to worry, Thanksgiving is the following Thursday. Thanksgiving?? Already?? Yesterday was Labor Day wasn’t it??
The November meeting is traditionally show and tell, bring your questions and comments, and starting this year we’ll try sell and swap. Bring anything to show. Newly found ideas, failures, equipment, books you have read. Anything. Bring your questions. Some of you are novices who now have a year behind you. I’m sure there are areas to review, refresh, and resolve. Maybe you have extracted honey and want to show it off. We’ll have honey tasting, and I’ll have a refractor to allow you to determine the water content of your honey.
Sell and swap… We will have tables set up for you to display anything. Any new items that you thought you could use but never did. I need two tables for that. Any old items that you no longer use. A reminder though, no used woodenware. Bring whatever you have with a price assigned and with your name on it so members can link items to sellers.
The more we bring, both for show and tell and for sale, the more successful this will be, so don’t be bashful!!
I am lining up speakers for the late winter and spring meetings. I am also working on a big one for our club members and hope to have details at the November meeting. Plans are being made for the novice program so please be alert for anyone who may be interested in participating. We will begin taking reservations in January. In the coming year we hope to take a more proactive role in the WV Beekeepers Association. Also keep in mind potential sponsors for the spring 2017 conference. We will have the sponsors brochure ready by our meeting. The benefit that you derive from your membership relies heavily on your participation and assistance. I thank you for your enthusiasm to date, but also beg your help in coming times.
With best wishes I hope to see all of you in November.
